CRESPOGRAM REPORT

MARCH 20, 2012

JIMBO’S THROUGH THE YEARS
ALL THINGS, GOOD AND BAD, COME TO AN END

I was never a regular at Jimbos, but over the years I produced 6 or 7 music videos and about an equal number of TV commercials, and also scouted the place for other folks who shot stuff there.

I always considered Jimbo’s a valuable location for the local film industry and did what I could over the years to encourage my colleagues to come together and raise some money to try and rehabilitate the place, but, like so many other efforts, these fell on deaf ears, and every time I went back in recent years a little more of the place had been trashed or torn down, until there was precious little of what had originally been the Fishing Village built back in the early 1980’s for the TV movie Island Claws.

Below is a clip from that movie that gives you an idea of what the place originally looked like when it was first built.

Of all the videos I produced that used Jimbo’s as a location, I was always partial to this one by No Mercy.

Over the years I took a lot of photographs of Jimbo’s.  Many of the ones in the early years were on film, and sitting in my archive boxes.  Here are some of my scouting photos, mostly from the mid 2000’s/
