DO YOU KNOW ME
I’M THE $200,000 A YEAR WHORE WHO RUNS THE MOST UNETHICAL AGENCY
IN MIAMI-DADE COUNTY

When it comes to unethical, ass-kissing weasel behavior, you would think that there would be a lot of contenders for being number one in Miami-Dade County.

In fact, when it comes to choosing whose at the top of that list, it’s actually not hard to choose Joe Centorino, the Executive Director of the Miami-Dade Commission on Ethics and Public Trust.

After over two decades of being in charge of the State Attorney’s Public Corruption Unit where he earned the nickname, “Let ‘em go Joe,” Centorino was shoe-horned into the ethics job as both a reward for being the loyal carrier of Katherine Fernandez-Rundle’s handbag, and also because he could be counted on to continue providing the needed protection for those on the Family and Friends Plan.

Centorino has had a long run with little in the way of really bad press because if you pay even half attention you can easily spot the sol-called “journalists” in town that he trades gossip and tips to in order to keep them at bay. There’s nothing like a little juicy gossip to keep the morons happy and pacified.

Now collecting approximately $200,000 a year with benefits, Centorino continues to be Fernandez-Rundle’s do-boy, and the latest evidence of that was the involvement of the Ethics Commission in the alleged Sunshine Law violation investigation of the Hialeah Mayor and City Commission, after a video tape surfaced of all of them trooping into a meeting room, and then trooping out before a City Commission meeting where the city’s budget was voted on with more speed than Lindsay Lohan used to show in chasing down a Crack dealer after leaving rehab.

To no one’s surprise it was decided by the State Attorney’s Office that none of those fine elected officials in Hialeah broke any laws, and the person who made that determination possible was an investigator for the Ethics Commission.

This is the same Ethics Commission that had determined only weeks before that they had no standing or business involving themselves in cases involving the Sunshine Law.

Here is a letter I sent to Centorino last night after I learned of the  Ethics Commission’s involved in this case that details the Commission’s decision to pass on Sunshine Law cases.

Yet, when a fix was needed, who better to show up than the Ethics Commission.

Contrary to popular opinion, Florida’s Open Government Laws, especially the Sunshine Law, is a lot more complicated and nuanced that most folks think.

Therefore, the notion that an investigator for an agency that does not, and has not ever involved itself in Sunshine Law investigations - and therefore knows little about the finer point of that law - was tapped to lead the investigation underscores just how rigged this supposed investigation was.

Making an uninformed ethics investigator the lead investigator in this case is like assigning a person who flies model airplanes to investigate the crash of a real airplane.

But then again, when it comes to these kinds of cases, especially where members of the Family and Friends Plan need to be protected, the Miami-Dade Commission on Ethics and Public Trust is the perfect organization to turn to in order to provide that extra special service, that starts with making sure that no one is unnecessarily embarrassed or compromised by making them give statements under oath.

Yes sir, when it comes to public trust, you can always depend on Joe Centorino and the Miami-Dade Commission on Ethics and Public Trust to shit all over the public trust and try to tell you its chocolate candy.

It’s Miami, Bitches!
