CRESPOGRAM REPORT

FEBRUARY 13, 2012

ARTS & MINDS ACADEMY’S NEW CHAIRMAN IS NONE OTHER THAN FORMER DISGRACED MIAMI CITY ATTORNEY JORGE FERNANDEZ
BIRDS OF A FEATHER
Somehow, in all of the sturm and drang that surrounded Manny Alonso Poch and his problems with the Miami-Dade School Board, regarding illegal fees, and all the others problems we chronicled over the last few months, the news that former, disgraced Miami City Attorney Jorge Fernandez, had washed ashore on the doorstep of the Academy as both a teacher and as the Academy’s EESAC Board managed to get by me.

THE EESAC is the Education Excellence School Advisory Committee. The committee consists of Stakeholders; Principal, Teachers, Parents, Students, Education Support Employees and Business/Community Representatives, is the sole body responsible for final decision making at the school relating to the implementation of the School Performance Excellence Plan.

CORRECTION NOTE: In my original post I had confused EESAC with the school’s Governing Board

Fernandez has long been a Poch friend and ally, and what better way to have his back covered during a time when his own actions have been under repeated fire and criticism than to have a disgraced former City Attorney who was forced to resign as part of a plea deal to take over as the Chairman of his Board Of Directors.

That Manny, he sure knows how to choose folks with stellar backgrounds to oversee his Charter School. His cousin, Ruth Montaner, who is the Chairwoman of the school’s Governing Board, has a husband and son serving time for Medicare Fraud, which makes Jorge, with his two misdemeanor counts look almost like a chior boy.

The best part is that Fernandez was originally hired to teach the kiddies at the Academy a class on government.

In the 21st Century, when public corruption has become institutionalized through the sophisticated use of smarmy manipulators of the public trust, there’s nothing like having a former government attorney who managed to skip out one step ahead of a felony indictment for crimes he committed while in office to be entrusted with teaching kiddies a class on government.

I wonder if Manny Alonso Poch would like to hire me as a teacher? I could teach a class on finance and how to make unorthodox withdrawals from banks.

If nothing else, I could teach the kiddies the ethics of at least wearing a mask when setting out to commit a crime.
