CRESPOGRAM REPORT

JANUARY 16, 2011

TERMINATION REINSTATED
CIVIL SERVICE BOARD OVERTURNS IT’S OCTOBER DECISION AND TERMINATES MEREDITH NATION

Never let it be said that the Civil Service Board doesn’t pay attention to what the employees have to say.

In the aftermath of the Board’s ruling in october to reinstate Meredith Nation, and essentially forgive her having to pay back the $80,000 that she received for the 9 1/2 months she got paid as a No-Show employee in 2010, the Civil Service Board convened last week, and reversed that deicison, terminating Nation.

I first heard of this possibility last November when word reached me that so many city employees had watched the hearing on TV and become so upset that they let their feeling about this injustice be known loud and clear to the 2 members of the board who represent the employees.

There is no telling what, if anything comes next, or whether Meredith Nation will just accept the board’s decision and move on.

Given the failure of the City to go after any of the money that larry Sring and other walked out the door with in questionable, if not illegal severance payments, the odds are pretty good that the $80,000 that Nation collected as a No-Show employee will never make it’s way back into the city’s coffers.

It’s Miami, Bitches!
