COUNTY TAX COLLECTOR SENDS GROVE KEY MARINA A DEMAND LETTER

PAY UP, BITCHES!

While the City of Miami has spent the last 15 years dicking around the failure of Grove Key Marina/Scotty’s Landing to pay their property taxes, Fernando Casamayor, the County Tax Collector, only took a couple weeks after learning first hand about this mess to send both Grove Key Marina and the City of Miami a no nonsense letter stating that Miami-Dade County wants their money.

The letter give Grove Key Marina 30 days to respond.

Now we’ll see first hand just how far Commissioner “Ethics” Sarnoff is willing to push City Attorney Julie Bru and City Manager Johnny ‘The Doormat” Martinez, in an effort to provide support for his pal and sock puppet Steve Marin, and Marin’s client Scott Wessel.

The other interesting question is whether Wessel will eventually pay the $333,492, owed in underpaid fuel sales over a period of 5 years, now that he and his partners didn’t win the RFP for the property.

Wessel deposited the money in an escrow account, but now I’m hearing that his attorney is once again claiming that Wessel isn’t obligated to pay because of a letter he received from a former Director of Asset Management years ago.

Since it was the City Commission that actually ratified the gross sales rates in the contract between the City and Grove Key Marina, any letter by a bureaucrat that usurps the authority of a binding contract ratified by the City Commission would in most places be laughed out of court, but then this is Miami, and you need to go to court to make that happen. Julie Bru supposedly doesn’t want to do that.

You got to love that Julie Bru. She has spent millions over the years hiring outside law firms to represent the City on some pretty shaky cases - managing to in many instances having to settle after it was apparent that the City would lose - yet, when it comes to going to court to make a pal of Commissioner “Ethics” Sarnoff, and client of his hand puppet Steve Marin pay a couple million in taxes and gross sales receipts, she gets cold feet.

A dollar to a doughnut says that the 5 Dwarfs on the City Commission will stick their fingers up their asses and spin like tops before any of them gets the balls to demand that Wessel, and all the other deadbeats, that have - and are - stiffing the City be ordered to pay up in full or get evicted!

In any event, here are the letters from the County Tax Collector.
