POOR NO MORE
ETHIC’S COMMISSION TO FINE HIS IGNORANCE FOR FAILING TO LIST THE VALUE OF HIS HOUSE AS PART OF HIS FINANCIAL REPORTS

El Nuevo Herald and the Miami Herald reported on Monday night that In response to the ethics complaint I filed on November 28th, the Miami-Dade Ethics Commission will fine Miami Mayor Tomas Regalado $1000, for failing to list the net value of his house as part of his assets in his annual financial report.

Regalado for years attempted to portray himself as the poorest of Miami’s politicians, claiming to have a net worth of as little as $5000, that increased during his first 2 years as Mayor to $9300.

That was never the case, and it in many ways it’s baffling why and how this fiction was never challenged by the Miami Herald and the rest of the local news media during all the years that he claimed to be the poorest politician in the land.

The only publication that even made a run at questioning this nonsense was The Miami New Times in 2008.

The decision by the Miami-Dade Ethics Commission to uphold my complaint was really a no-brainer, since the evidence to challenge the Regalado’s lie was readily available on the interest with less than 5 minutes of searching.

In addition to failing to list his house, one has to wonder what other assets he might have failed - or continues to fail - in listing on his financial reports.

Regalado makes $81,000 a year after taxes as Mayor of Miami, and from all appearances he leads a very quiet life, apart from his official duties, therefore, it remains a question as to what other assets - including his bank account - he might still be shielding from view.

But for now, the label of the poorest politician in Miami, will have to go to someone else, because, in Miami,Bitches!, the Mayor is poor no more.
