CRESPOGRAM REPORT

THE PLOT THICKENS - COULD SPENCE-JONES
BE PLANNING TO RUN FOR MAYOR

I’ve written in the past how thick-as-thieves Michelle Spence-Jones and Francis Suarez have been ever since she returned to the City Commission in September of 2011.

Part of Suarez’s campaign strategy for Mayor was always based on having Spence-Jones running for reelection and getting him the majority of District 5 votes on her coattails.  Unfortunately the decision by Circuit Court Judge Jorge Cueto that she could not run for another term has put a potential monkey wrench in that scheme.

Though that case is far from over, folks who understand how the law and the courts work tend to believe that Cueto’s opinion is good enough that it will withstand the challenge to the 3rd District.

So, what are Spence-Jone and Francis Suarez to do.  When you’re thick-as-thieves, a judge’s opinion cannot be allowed to upset your schemes.

I have heard from a normally reliable source that if it looks like the 3rd District will not allow Spence-Jones to run for District 5 Commissioner again, she will announce that she is running for Mayor of Miami.

Now, I have a better chance of getting elected Mayor of Miami than Spence-Jones, and I don’t even live in the city, but the strategy of helping Suarez against Regalado still remains the same.

By running for Mayor, she would limit her campaign to District 5, and run exclusively against Regalado. This would, they believe achieve the same result of denying Regalado votes, while using Spence-Jones’ popularity to benefit Suarez.

The obvious reason why Spence-Jones would do this is that she hates Regalado.  But this is Spence-Jones we’re talking about here, and she has a very long history of never doing a deal that didn’t have something in it for her.

So if Spence-Jones announces she’s running for Mayor and Suarez wins, you can absolutely make book that Spence-Jones will ride his little Cuban ass like she was the jockey riding Smarty Jones at the Kentucky Derby for the next 4 years.

If you think Miami’s screwed now, you ain’t seen nothing yet if these two team up to screw the taxpayers.  Add Sarnoff and Steve Marin to this mix, and Miami will look like the bleached bones of a dinosaur when they get through.
