CRESPOGRAM REPORT

OCTOBER 16, 2013

WILLIE AND MYRON
THIS IS HOW THE STATE ATTORNEY’S FAMILY AND FRIENDS PLAN WORKS FOR THOSE WHO ARE CONNECTED

In April of 2011, Stephanie Kienzle, who publishes the blog Voter Opinion filed an ethics complaint with the Florida Elections Commission against Myron Rosner, Mayor of North Miami BEach, who was running for reelection.

Here is the relevant portion of her complaint.

She originally filed her complaint with the Miami-Dade Commission on Ethics and Public Trust, where Kienzle says they promptly ignored it, and after some confusion an investigation was conducted that revealed that Rosner had also committed a couple felonies in an attempt to cover up several campaign finance problems.

Almost a year to the day after Stephanie filed her complaint, Rosner was arrested and charged with 9 crimes. Four of them were felonies, and the other five were misdemeanors.

Here is the arrest form. The specific crimes are highlighted in red.

In 2011, Miami City Commissioner Willie Gort also ran for reelection, and like Rosner, he too relied on bus bench advertising to promote his campaign.

Shortly after he filed his final campaign report in January of 2012, and BEFORE Stephanie Kienzle filed her complaint, a complaint was lodged with the FDLE that Commissioner Willie Gort, like Rosner, had benefited from receiving more bus bench advertising signs than he had paid for.

Within a year of the Rosner complaint being filed, he was charged with both felonies and misdemeanors.  It’s now going on 2 years since the complaint against Gort was filed, and the clock is ticking away until the Statute of Limitations on these violations expire. Inside the State Attorney’s offices they too are waiting for the Statute of Limitations to expires before closing the case out because when I asked for a copy of the Close Out Report on this case in August this was the response I got.

Allowing the Statute of Limitations to run out on folks in the Family and Friends Plan is the way Katherine Fernandez-Rundle makes sure that these cases never get prosecuted.

This is what she did in the David Rivera case, and what she did in the Tomas and Raquel Regalado campaign finance case.

Now, to be fair, once an investigation was opened on Rosner they found that he had tried to pull a couple fast ones to cover up a problem with a bad check, but the investigation was opened because of the illegal campaign contributions that all of the extra bus signs represented.

That was the exact same issue in the Willie Gort case.

I have been told that the reason that Gort will not be prosecuted is because, “It wouldn’t be fair to go after him, because almost all the candidates for office do similar kinds of things.”

Well, that’s not true at all, because you can see in the Arrest Report for Myron Rosner that they are going after him for doing that very same thing.”

Of course, I will not be able to find out what, if any other possible crimes was investigated regarding Gort’s campaign finances until the case is closed and I am able to get all of the investigative reports, but my own review of Gort’s 2011 campaign reports leads me to believe that there are some additional issues that warranted being investigated.

Putting aside any other possible charges, Willie Gort, based on the arrest report of Myron Rosner should have been charged and arrested like Rosner for these alleged crimes:

106.19 CAMPAIGN/ACCEPTANCE OF ILLEGAL CONTRIBUTIONS

106.19 CAMPAIGN/FAILURE TO REPORT CONTRIBUTION

The Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office, like a fish, is rotting from the head down. Katherine Fernandez-Rundle is not only personally corrupt but she has put in place policies and procedures that allow favored politicians to get away with crimes that other politicians get tagged for.

Now, don’t get me wrong, I suspect that Rosner was just one crooked politician among many in Miami-Dade County, and he deserves whatever comes at him, but because he’s not in the Family and Friends Plan, he’s being hung out to dry as a sacrificial goat so that Katherine Fernandez-Rundle can claim to be tough on corrupt politicians.

That’s absolute bullshit, because the record is clear that when it comes to going after corrupt politicians, she only goes after a very select few so she can give the others a free pass!

The irrefutable evidence of that is the fact that a dinky little case about accepting an illegal campaign contribution in the form of free bus bench advertising has been allowed to go on for a full two years with it being either prosecuted or dropped.

You don’t need two full years to make up your mind on a case like this, but you do need to keep this case open, and in a drawer for two full years to make sure that when the Statute of Limitations expires, there is no way to bring this case back.

That’s the protection that the Family and Friends Plan provides favored politicians.

It’s Miami, Bitches!
